Kita kita na-in love sa isang birthday party sa Max's

Last August 5 at Max's Restaurant in Scout Tuazon, Quezon City-- the very first branch of the popular Pinoy food chain established in 1945--- I attended Chickie Boy's birthday party.

Chickie Boy, in case you don't know, is the playful mascot of Max's who has been spreading fun and his loving feathers to kids of all ages who celebrate their special day in "the house that fried chicken built."

I shared a table with two families who were able to bring their kids in the event. I was supposed to tag along my 8-year old son but he would like his mom to come too. Unfortunately, my wife is not available. I went to the event because I already confirmed my attendance and how can you say no to a birthday party, right?

Just like in any party, I grabbed a drink. Iced tea with a slice of lemon in the bottom of the glass to be precise. I moved to one play booths to another. I found myself staying for a few minutes at the Princess Palace (one of the four party themes in Max's. The others are Carnival, Other Space, and Super Racer).

I was watching kids taking their turns in having a photowith a pretty lady in pink when I noticed a young man who look a bit sad.

I asked him, "You also don't have a kid with you today?"

He smiled back, "I'm still single. NGSB."

That's No Girlfriend Since Birth for you.

Since I thought we are the only "unattached" men in the event, I decided to stick with him until the party is over for some company.

We had a quite a talk and he even opened up some personal stuff especially his love life which I thought is worthy for TV or movie adaptation.

The kuya in me stepped out and gave him some unsolicited advice. I just have to help this guy who has spent almost half of his life loving somebody. The girl has been in a number of failed relationships and it is always him who is there to give him a shoulder to cry on. The problem is, he's been friendzoned and can't seems find a way to make the girl fall in love with her.

I told him to try to sweep her off her feet with sweet nothings. Simple gestures can sometime mean a lot specially if done sincerely.

1. Make him miss you but at the same time maintain a feeling that you are just there anytime she needed you

2. Tell her she's the only one that can complete you, not just through words but also by deed.

3. Give him the Princess treatment that she deserves.

4. Ask her the real score between you because she might not be aware of your three intentions.

5.Be like Max's. Sarap to the bone dapat kung mag-mahal.

And finally, just in case that he will be able to make her fall for him, they might want to throw a party. At Max's Restaurant, of course.  Max's, can give you both fun and meaningful celebration with the following amenities:

• Three (3) hours use of venue
• Mascot appearance
• Use of party banner
• Party room decor
• Party host
• Party kit
• Giveaways
• Game prizes
• Birthday themed cake

Asked what he wants for his birthday, this little boy said he wants a police car and got more than what he asked for

Two weeks before his 5th birthday, Charles Anthony was asked what he wants to get on his special day.

His immediate response was, “A police car!”

His parents just laughed at the idea thinking that Charles just want a new police car toy to add to his collection. They didn’t know that someone was already planning of giving the toddler’s “arresting” wish.

The birthday tarpaulin prepared by his Daddy.

But where's the birthday boy? Uh yeah, he's still on duty finishing the police files.

And catching some thugs who just littered the street with empty wrappers of  Ding-Dongs.

Now, it's time to go to the police station.

And meet with the Chief and some of his fellow police officers.

Eat cake.

But of course, he has to blow the candle first.

Too bad, they can't party 'till  the wee hours because the unit needs to be dispatched for an emergency.

But at least, he got his police car on his birthday.

And actually ride it with his boys!

But wait, there's one more!  This boy can't resist a gorgeous red four-wheeler when he sees one.

This is Tito Randy, Charles' uncle who thought of this brilliant idea--- the best gift ever!
Hands up! I mean, hands down... you know what I mean.

Special thanks to SP03 Edwin S. Sison, Desk Officer of Police Station 8 of Quezon City Police District, Philippines and his fellow police officers for granting our little Charles' wish of celebrating his 5th birthday with his heroes. :)

Happy 5th Birthday, Nuffnang!

Just when I thought that after Valentine's Day, February is just another month that will end without any more flare.

But wait! There's more!

Nuffnang will turn 5 before the end of the month!

So here's the most creative greeting that I can think of at 8 o'clock in the morning after I slept past 2am due to some reasons (Temple Run, movies, FB, etc.)...

Happy Birthday, Nuffnang! God bless and more power to all Nuffies and Nuffnangers!  May you have more birthdays to come.  Please watch this VTR...

There will be a party (which I am hoping to be a part of) at The Podium Mall in Ortigas Center on February 27, 2012 with the support of these great and generous sponsors:

Humor Me Makoy Contest

This is my entry to the Humor Me Makoy Contest. I have been following Makoy's blog because I like his writing style--- simple and with humor. Last year, Makoy posted a funny entry on how he celebrated his birthday. Check out Not So Lonely Birthday and it will definitely make you smile. My favorite part is when he mentioned that he had miswa that day. At least it's still noodles. So Pinoy! Ankulet! Just like my Nanay who never forget to remind us to cook something pansit or spaghetti on our birthday! Hmmm...Maybe that's one of the secret of Makoy and his blogs' longevity? :-)

His post also reminded me of a funny incident that happened more than a decade ago. My friend asked me for gift suggestions for the father of his girlfriend who lives in the province. He plans to go with his GF to visit her father but he wants to buy the old man a gift so their first meeting would start on a good note.

I told my friend to buy something that his future father-in-law can use. He agreed with the idea and called up his GF to ask what her father do for a living. We were in a mall that time and he was having little trouble talking to her over the phone. But my friend was able to hear that her father was a carpenter. So, he bought a new set of chisels, hammer and a saw from a hardware store and wrapped 'em in a big box sealed with a kiss.

A week later, I received a text message from my friend. He texted that although the old man finds his gifts useful, he can't use any of 'em at work since he is a Car Painter and not a Carpenter.

A-nye-nye!
