A One of Kind Valentine's Date

It was Valentine’s Day of 2005. I am not really good in planning dinner dates so I end up offering just a pizza treat for my then-girlfriend Leah. As much as I wanted it to be more romantic, I just can’t do it for a lot of reason.

But the day started well. The delivery guy from the flower shop showed up at Leah’s office earlier than her (just as I requested). So while she walks through the hallway to her table, there was this guy in red uniform standing beside her cubicle with a big smile while carrying the bouquet of flowers that I ordered. Leah said that while she was walking to get my gift, her officemates where cheering and teasing her while she’s blushing.

“Tonight, pizza for two and the whole me only for you! Happy Valentines… I love you!” That’s what my note said. After reading it, Leah texted me to say that she already received the flowers and our date is set.

Through the whole afternoon, all I think is what will I say to Leah on our first Valentine’s date. When the clock hit six o ‘clock, I rushed out from work and luckily got a cab without any hassle.

I was home within 30 minutes--- just enough time for me to prepare the table. After a quick change of outfit, I put the Hawaiian pizza into the oven and viola! Instant dinner that goes well with my favorite soda!

Exactly 7 p.m. Saipan time, I called up my Leah who was also ready with her slice of pizza that she bought from a fastfood store in Cubao. We were both very happy that we were able to have that date though we are thousand miles away from each other. We spend the next two hours talking to the phone about our plans the moment I went back home to the Philippines in August of that year.

Today, we are happily married and will have our first son this coming March. For our Valentine’s date this year, as a tradition, a pan of pizza for two and the whole me only for her!

2 Become 1

It was simply the happiest day of my life. So the day came that I would finally what life has to offer with my Leah for as long as we live.

3:00 p.m. - 02 Dec 2006 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Quezon City, it was the moment we both have been waiting for all our lives--- to walk down the aisle and marry that special someone destined to be our better halves. I’m sure most of us have dream of such moment. It is that one day that the whole world watches every step you make, every word you say…every smile…every kiss.

At the reception area of Fernandina 88 Suites Hotel, things became more exciting where friends and families shared our first moments as a couple --- first meal, first dance, first gift and the list goes on.

I just feel that it was one of those days that nothing seems can go wrong. Almost everyone we wanted to share the memorable event were there, our favorite songs were played and most of all, we already have each other to embrace forever.

I guess the best way to end this very unforgettable moment is to seal it with a kiss.
